Why Yellow and Green Why Yellow and Green BLOG about fatal errors in politics and other suspcious and curious behaviors of mankind. December 08, 2005 Das "wahre Gesicht" der WIKIPEDIA Gefunden in The Wikipedia Review - Strategies against Wikipedia: At this point I personally feel that the World Wide Web is pretty much ruined and maybe even unworkable in the first place, but Wikipedia is possibly the major element that is hastening its demise. Wikipedia is providing the template for the internet of the near future: millions of little tin editors, endlessly working like ants to create a neverending self-perpetuating web of gossip, lies, distortion, and noise. For no other reason than because they can. Seems to me the only thing to do at this point is to just help it along. Bring it to its logical burnout conclusion as soon as possible so we can all move on from there. Wikipedia as a concept is utterly unworkable, but when most users realize this, they usually just quietly move on rather than cause a fuss. There needs to be more of a public awareness that Wikipedia is not only worthless as a reliable source, but downright dangerous to the internet’s well-being. Sooner or later, Wiki and wiki-sourced results will be isolated from regular search engine results. It has to happen or the search engines will be crippled. I’d like to see the process fast-forwarded so that Google and other engines will take action against Wiki-noise in their results sooner, rather than later. Wiki/Twiki software is free and easy, and I’d like to see a proliferation of Wikis out there competing with Wikipedia, until the glut of useless drivel clogs the arteries of search engines to the point where something’s got to give. When it happens slowly, as it does now, it’s too gradual for most people to detect, and the internet dies the death by a thousand cuts. People need to be shown - on a grand scale - the cancerous nature of Wikipedia. By any means necessary. I was once an active Wikipedia editor myself, and when I discovered it, I sang its praises to all my friends and spent untold hours like a worker drone, trying to help build this great Pyramid of the world’s information. But for every Wikipedia user, there eventually must come that moment where you face the deep dark truthful mirror. That moment where you realize you’re wasting your time pissing in an ocean. That moment where you realize that well-written articles and well-thought-out discussion points will ALL eventually get reverted and shouted down, largely by groups of schoolchildren. We need to hasten that moment of disillusionment for more us
