The Vesi tree, a high value native timber, is being used at a very rapid rate for Tanoa carving, but its off-cuts are not utilized and no re-forestation is taking place to replenish diminishing stock. However, the picture is changing now. WWF and the Fiji government have set up the first-ever tree nursery on Kabara.
