Mr. Snowe, an independent candidate, defeated his rival Dusty Wolokollie of the Unity Party. The Chief Clerk of the transitional assembly, Attorney James Kaba announced the results of the election of Speaker. The Representatives also elected Mr. Tokpah Mulbah of Bong County as Deputy Speaker of the House. Mr. Mulbah won three contenders including Nohn Kidau of Nimba, Prof. Edward Ford of Montserrado and Armah Sarnoh of Gbarpolu Counties. Mr. Mulbah won thirty-eight of the sixty-three votes. He is from the Congress for Democratic Change A defeated candidate for the position of Speaker has congratulated Edwin Snowe for his election as Speaker. Montserrado County Representative Dusty Wolokollie said he was satisfied with the conduct of the election. Mr. Wolokollie said the results of the polls reflected the desire of his colleagues. Senator Isaac Nyenanbo of Grand Gedeh County has been elected President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate. Mr. Nyenanbo defeated Senator Cletus Wotorson of Grand Kru County fifteen to fourteen votes. There was one invalid vote. Mr. Nyenanbo was elected Senator for Grand Gedeh on the ticket of the National Democratic Party of Liberia. A Grand Cape Mount County Senator has described Friday?s elections as very transparent. Senator Abel Massaley said the elections suggest that the 52nd legislature will be independent. Senator Massaley said the composition of the 52nd legislature suggests the independence of the Legislature. He said there is no ruling party dominance of the new Legislature. The Magisterial Court at the Temple of Justice has ordered the arrest of Montserrado County Representative-elect Dusty Wolokollie. The court ordered Mr. Wolokollie?s arrest for his failure to appear in court on charge of tempering with public document. Mr. Wolokollie, prior to his election as Representative, was member of the National Contracts and Monopolies Commission. The Justice Ministry accused Mr. Wolokollie and two others of overstating a bid for the privatization of the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation. The government alleged Mr. Wolokollie and his co-defendants overstated the bid from seventy million to one hundred and seventy million U.S. dollars. The transitional government through the Justice Ministry filed the case on January 7. ECOWAS leaders have commended Chairman Gyude Bryant for a successful completion of his mandate as head of the Transitional Government.
